Quintums Tenor-S Survivable VoIP Switches provide local IP endpoint registration and call routing
functionality in the event that communication with the central proxy is lost. In these circumstances the
Tenor-S takes over as the local routing engine, supporting the local IP phones, and in addition providing
gatewaying capabilities to enable IP phones to place calls out over the back-up PSTN connections. The
Tenor-S continues to monitor the status of the central SIP proxy and, once communication is reestablished,
passes routing responsibility back to the central proxy.
